Self Care is Health Care

Often times, we get so caught up in serving others, that we end up neglecting ourselves. But in order to keep caring for our patients and supporting our fellow providers, we need to make time to take care of ourselves! Self care is an essential part of maintaining our health and mental wellness. And after the past three years that we've had, the healthcare community is overdue for some self care!

I had the opportunity to practice some self care recently by taking a quick getaway with some of my closest friends! We spent some relaxing, restorative time together. Then we celebrated by going to see the the queen of self love, Lizzo, in concert! We had such a wonderful time, and it was well worth taking a few days away from work.

Over the next few months, I encourage you to intentionally set aside time to practice some self care. Whether that involves a weekend getaway, spending time with your loved ones, or simply getting outside and taking a walk, do whatever makes you feel relaxed and restored. And as a takeaway, remember these wise words of Queen Lizzo: “In case nobody told you today, you're special.”
